Construction dust does not come off in one pass

Drywall dust behaves differently from house dust. It is fine enough to hang in the air for hours, so wiping a counter at nine in the morning means wiping it again at noon. That is why this service is built as more than one pass: high surfaces first, then verticals, then floors, then a second sweep of everything after the air settles.

The building along the Route 495 and Route 290 corridors keeps a lot of builders busy, and most of those homes hand over with a punch list still open. Our part is the last one. Trim gets washed rather than dusted, glass gets scraped of adhesive and paint, and every register cover comes off so the grit inside does not blow back out the first time the heat runs.

What the visit covers

• Drywall dust wiped from every horizontal surface twice
• Splatter scraped off glass and metal hardware
• Sticker residue removed from windows and appliances
• Outlet boxes vacuumed out and the plates wiped
• New floors damp mopped after a full dust pass
• Fixture globes rinsed and dried before rehanging
• Sawdust vacuumed from closet corners and stair nosings
• Ductwork registers vacuumed and wiped inside the lip
• Tub and shower surrounds cleaned of grout haze
• Caulk lines wiped down and checked for film

Rough clean, final clean and who does what

Two visits usually beat one. A rough clean after the trades finish but before flooring and fixtures go in removes the bulk, and a final clean afterward is then a genuine finish rather than a rescue. Builders and homeowners both get one flat number per visit, agreed after a walkthrough, so the general contractor is not fielding change orders from the cleaning line.

One honest limit: debris removal is not cleaning. Lumber offcuts, packaging, buckets and anything heavy need to be gone before the cleaners arrive, or the visit turns into hauling and the schedule breaks for the next client. Sweeping compound level material is fine. Tell us at the walkthrough what will still be on site and the plan gets built around it.
