- Our Room by Room Cleaning Checklist
Every room, every visit, written down in advance
The actual room by room list we work from, agreed with you before the first visit so nothing about your clean is a guess.
This is the list. Not a sample, not a brochure version, the actual sequence a cleaner follows in your house. You get it before the first visit, you cross off what you do not want, and you add what matters to you. Once you approve it, that is the standard the visit is measured against, and it is what we check against if you tell us something got missed.
Order matters as much as content. Dry work comes before wet work, high surfaces before low, and floors last so nothing lands on a clean floor. Wide pine and oak floors, common in older homes around Berlin, Clinton and Lancaster, get a damp mop and a neutral cleaner rather than a flooded bucket. A cleaner working a list in a fixed order does not have to remember what is left.
The room by room list
- Kitchen: counters, sink, stovetop, and every appliance front
- Bathrooms: toilet base to tank, tub, tile, glass
- Bedrooms: beds made, surfaces dusted, under bed vacuumed
- Living areas: dusted top down, cushions lifted, floors done
- Entry and mudroom: mats lifted, tracked grit vacuumed out
- Stairs and halls: treads, spindles, and switch plates
- Throughout: baseboards, sills, door frames, and light switches
- Last: trash out, floors mopped, doors locked behind us
What counts as an add on
A few things sit outside the standard list because they take real time on their own. Inside the oven, inside the refrigerator, interior windows, cabinet interiors, laundry, wall washing, and finished basements or bonus rooms you keep closed. None of these are refused. They are quoted separately so a regular visit never quietly turns into a much longer job that ends with a surprise on the invoice.
The entry deserves its own note because it decides how the rest of the house looks. Entry mats hold whatever came off your boots, and lifting them rather than vacuuming around them is the difference between clean and clean looking. Same with the strip of floor behind the door. If you tell us a room can be skipped, we skip it and the price reflects it. Nothing is padded.
Questions about our room by room cleaning checklist
If your question is not here, call and ask. We would rather tell you a smaller job is enough than sell you a bigger one.
Can I change the checklist after we start?
Yes, any time. Call or text and we will update the list for your address, and the cleaner works from the new version on the next visit. If a change adds real time, we tell you what it does to the price before it takes effect.
What happens if something on the list gets missed?
Tell us within a couple of days and we come back and redo it at no charge. There is nothing to argue about because the list is agreed in advance. We also tell the cleaner what happened, since the point is that it does not repeat next month.
Do you move furniture to clean underneath it?
Light things, yes. Chairs get moved, small side tables get shifted, and cushions come up. Heavy furniture stays where it is unless you ask ahead and someone is home, because dragging a loaded bookcase across old floors causes more damage than the dust behind it ever would.
